Rose and Reuben are two black cats, both males, ten years old, born
scarcely a month apart. Each has his purpose.
I brought a small black kitten home for my puppy Stone when he could not
stop grieving over the death of his favorite cat Tinker. Named the Rose after
the famous flower in "The Beauty and the Beast", the flower upon which the
Beast's very life depended, the kitten quickly captured the young dog's heart,
and they have been inseparable ever since.
Reuben was a life saved in honor of the loss of my sixteen year old
Siamese cat, Caesar. A semi feral kitten, he was plucked up out of the urban
wilderness and thrust into the comforts of home and hearth. Eight years later,
he is still not certain if he cares much for civilization, and much prefers to
lurk in dark corners and make his promenade at night...
